AngelHack's 2019 Ambassador Retreat — Building Connections That Last

Last month, our team set our laptops aside, packed our bags, and traveled across the world for one of the most exciting trips of the year — AngelHack’s Ambassador Retreat! With 21 ambassadors from 9 different countries, this year’s retreat was one of the largest ones in the history of AngelHack.

AngelHack started out in Silicon Valley with a simple idea to create a space of bringing creators together. Seven years later, AngelHack has spread to 106 cities around the globe with a diverse community of 200,000 developers, designers, and entrepreneurs. How did that happen? Our ambassadors! They are true AngelHack community heroes with their excitement for technology and start-ups.

Once a year, we gather our Ambassadors for a retreat to connect with one another and get ready to kick off a new Global Hackathon Series. Our ambassador crew came to the retreat reflecting the diversity of our AngelHack community, with people flying to Bali from 9 countries and 15 cities (and a 50:50 men to women ratio)!

Bali’s beautiful sights and truly lovely people are what takes the country’s magnificence to another level. We had an amazing time and did some incredible things such as:

…hanging out with monkeys in the forest…

…swinging over the abyss…

…chilling in the crystal-blue water!

Outside play time, we had power team meetings and workshops to get everyone ready for the 2019 Global Hackathon Series. Our first workshop kicked off with AngelHack CEO Sabeen’s “Ask Me Anything”. Curious ambassadors asked questions ranging from AngelHack’s founding story & vision for the future to her favorite movie and biggest failure. Sabeen emphasized the critical role the ambassadors play in helping AngelHack blend in the fabric of developers ecosystem locally.

We also equipped ambassadors with the tools they need to run awesome Hackathons. We covered topics like:

During this retreat, we built connections to last a lifetime. Even though the retreat was last month, our Ambassadors and Regional Managers are still continuing to connect and support one another in this grassroot community building effort.

And now, we’re ready to kickstart the biggest Hackathon Series of the planet, AngelHack’s Global Hackathon Series!
